Success for Denbighshire Music Co-operative at the Social Business Wales Awards

The Musicians’ Union (MU) is delighted that Denbighshire Music Co-operative (DMC) has won the ‘One to Watch’ category in the 2017 Social Business Wales Awards.

This award recognises DMC’s success in the last two years and its ‘significant promise for the future’, and they will now go on to represent Wales in the UK Social Enterprise Awards 2017.

Andy Warnock, MU Regional Officer for Wales and South West England, said: “It’s fantastic that the hard work of DMC’s teacher-members and the services they provide to young people in Denbighshire have been recognised. The MU has been supporting music teacher co-operatives for over 20 years, and this is a great reminder that they can provide a sustainable, productive, and flexible model that puts teachers in greater control of their work, while ensuring young people benefit from access to music education.”
