Sign the instruments on planes petition

Call on the European Council to ensure musicians travelling with instruments are treated fairly.

The MU regularly hears from members about issues encountered whilst flying with instruments, and has been working to improve this for many years.

Most airlines have policies in relation to the booking process and stowage of instruments, but these policies are often inadequate in providing practical and safe transportation. Some policies have become so prohibitive that musicians have been forced to find alternative means of transport.

The International Federation of Musicians (FIM) is calling for musicians’ unions worldwide to put pressure on the European Union to support musicians flying with instruments.

Please sign and share this online petition widely.

The aim is to exert pressure on the European Council for it to adopt a regulation reviewed by the European Parliament, which almost unanimously voted for it in February 2014. Instead, the European Council is considering eliminating the article that gives musicians the rights we are claiming.
